ITALIAN LESSONS ON YOUR TERMS
The number of sessions and the lessons depend on your level and on your goals. During the first meeting we will discuss the length of the session and the reason you are studying Italian in order to set specific goals.
To each his own! You may be studying Italian because someone in your family speaks Italian and you want to please them or communicate with them. You may be studying Italian for business or because you are planning a trip to Italy. You may be studying Italian because your girlfriend/ boyfriend is Italian. You may even be studying Italian at school, but not feel satisfied with the program, and perhaps you really need an A on this course. Or you may be studying Italian just for fun.
Whatever your goal is, we will work together to reach it!
The material we will be using will be based on your goals. If you only want to be able to speak Italian, we will choose other material than if you want to pass an Italian proficiency exam which includes a lot of text analysis and essays.
I do offer lessons to elementary-aged children
I have created and developed an original Italian curriculum- including song, props, and crafts. My approach is through the use of music and rhymes, coupled with props and different exercizes, covering topics relevant to their age group.
You have three choices for how the sessions are set up. First, you can choose to have all the sessions in person. Second, you can choose to have all the sessions online through Skype. And third you can decide to alternate depending on your availability and mine. I am open to anything that can fit both of our schedules.
No matter what your level, I offer:
-
Culture as part of the curriculum;
-
Grammar presented within conversation, not separately. Instead of boring drills and teaching “the past tense,” I demonstrate how to speak in the past tense;
-
An emphasis on conversation. From the start, I encourage students to speak in full sentences;
-
Techniques for helping you think and converse in an immersion-only environment;
-
Practical words and real-life settings;
-
Easy, memory-reinforcing templates;
-
Visual cues and aids;
-
Methods to help you learn the nuances of pronunciation;
-
A teacher who is trained to recognize learning styles.
From the beginning students are encouraged, but never pressured, to practice articulating their new language and perfecting their pronunciation under my guidance of native-speaking.
